It's that time of year again. OCTOBER.....kickoff to yet another fantastic Winter season of friends,
campfires, exploration, events and so much more in Quartzsite.
For the last five years, "The Meet in Q" group has worked hard to support the QUARTZSITE FOOD BANK (formally incorporated as The Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank), a most worthy charity and contributor to the community

Some quick facts about the bank:
- Founded and led by Lois A Dupre
- 99.97% of all fundraising goes to actual distribution of food and
clothing. The bank is run by an amazing army of volunteers
- thousands of boxes of food are distributed to the needy every
year from their Moon Mountain Ave warehouse.
- there is zero discrimination. If you are in need, you get help and
this includes non resident transients and nomads
- tons of clothing and other articles are distributed every year from their free thrift store, Carols Closet, at the same location.
- they deliver weekly to needy shut-ins
- they deliver complete Holiday meals to many
- and much more
Surprisingly, the majority of TONS & TONS of food they supply must be purchased!
Our group has been one of their largest contributors over the last four years with more than $35,000 raised.
With economic times being ever tougher, this year we are kicking off the season with our campaign called....
5-15-50
- our fifth year
- raise $15,000 this year
- puts us over the top to have raised $50,000 over five years
To accomplish this and demonstrate our appreciation for all that this wonderful group does we are conducting a 50/50 raffle.

The bike is expected to be available for pickup in Quartzsite no later than 12/31. The winner MUST pick up the bike in Quartzsite or be responsible for shipping it to the desired address.

I just want to thank all of you who have helped make this happen. I know Mike, Doc and Bre headed this fundraiser and did a tremendous job but it could not have happened without the help of all of you! You bring tears to my eyes.
This has been our toughest season ever with the number of people doubling over last year that needed our help. We had thought with Covid going down that our numbers would go back to normal but there were more people than ever who needed a hand up.
We are a private 501c3 nonprofit that does not work on government funds like the big food banks. We need to raise all the money it takes to buy our groceries and pay our overhead. Luckily we have the best group of volunteers that make it happen.

Drawing today for the two raffles conducted by Meet in Q for our annual fundraiser in support of the
QUARTZSITE FOOD BANK.
Through your generosity, we set a new record this year and the prior two years each, for the largest private donations in the history of the Food Bank.
So many Q'ers and Quartzsite locals and vendors helped us make this happen.
I know that I'm going to miss a few and I apologize up front but a short list of those that made a difference:

Meet In Q
Meet In Q Facebook is
the primary meeting point for those planning on spending the winter season in Quartzsite, AZ.
From this site we facilitate group meet-ups, including campfires, potluck dinners, numerous thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years functions in the desert.
The town of Quartzsite is surrounded by over 11,000 acres of BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land, which offers free/low cost dispersed camping.
Quartzsite is a favorite snowbird destination for folk across the northern states and all of Canada. In a Sonoran Desert setting and only 879 feet above sea level, more than 1 million visitors come to this community each year. The population is around 3500, but swells to a temporary peak of over 250,000 during the months of December, January, and February.
This group comprised of folk who enjoy boondocking, dry camping, dispersed camping or whatever other moniker you might want to call camping without water, electric, or sewage connections. Folk from all walks of life, camping in everything from tents to million dollar motor homes call “Meet in Q” home. Come join us, and make yourself at home.
