At the Quartzsite Food Bank, love is in the air. Three couples serving through AmeriCorps Seniors, as RSVP Volunteers, prove that service to their community strengthens relationships. A worldwide pandemic didn’t even hinder their love he Rasmussen’s, Yancy’s, and Erickson’s have been serving throughout COVID at the Food Bank
Anker and Carole Rasmussen have many decades of service under their belt. As the Food Bank’s oldest volunteer, Anker (93 in July), “works harder than anyone”, especially in his personal relationships.
.
RSVP volunteer Shirley Yancy says, “Happiness is a decision”. Her Husband, Tim, agrees that she’s the happiest person, and he’s lucky to have her by his side.
Ann and Earl Erickson traveled across the country to serve in Quartzsite from Alabama.
They will certainly be missed when they leave this fall.
Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank President, Lois Dupre, is so grateful for these three couples, and all the volunteers that serve at the Food Bank. “They make a difference in the lives of people in Quartzsite”.

The Saturday before Christmas the food bank management and volunteers invited families to come and pick out gifts for their children and for the children to pick out gifts for their parents. Then the volunteers wrapped them so they could not see what was going to be their gift till Christmas. Thank you to the members of our community who donated gifts. This made for many happy families!
