Our mission is to improve the quality of life of underprivileged seniors, veterans, disabled people, families, and children who are residents of Quartzsite by inspiring a community of helping and reaching out to people in need.

WHO WE ARE:
QCAMELS is a sister 501c3 nonprofit of
Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank.
We help residents of Quartzsite in need where the food bank cannot.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
Several of us were sitting together and decided we needed a nonprofit to help people in need in Quartzsite where the food bank could not. We figured if we got organized it would be easier to raise funds to accomplish our goals. We know we live in a poor community of elderly, low income families, disabled and veterans. La Paz is the 4th poorest county in Arizona. Many times people just need a little help, like many of us have. In the past our community has come together to supply what is needed. With the QCAMELS we will already have many of the resources and funds ready to help.
What Types Of Help:
Help people from becoming homeless
Build ramps to homes of disabled
Raise funds to help veterans repair homes
Help children's organizations reach their goals
Help people when they are having medical problems
Replace or repair air-conditioners and swamp coolers
Keep people's electric on.
Works with Americorp Seniors and RSVP
And more.
In return for our help people are given the opportunity to give back to the community by paying it back or paying it forward.
They can pay it back with donations to QCAMELS.
They can pay it forward with volunteering in the community.
Or a combination of both paying it back and paying it forward.

Americorp Seniors
AmeriCorps Seniors offers three programs where adults 55 & older, can enrich lives & strengthen communities through volunteering.
As a AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer you can receive:
*A tax-free stipend (does not affect SSI or other benefits)*
*Accident and liability insurance while on duty*
*Personal and holiday leave*
*Reimbursement for volunteer mileage*
Senior Companion program help others live independently by providing assistance and friendship. Activities they can also provide include respite for caregivers, running errands, and taking individuals to appointments. Senior Companions help the elderly remain in their own homes where they are more satisfied with their lives.
